ABOUT ME
Steven J. Tandy is an emerging screenwriter/director/producer from Bacchus Marsh, Regional Victoria. He completed the Bachelor of Film and Television at Swinburne University in 2o13.
Tandy travelled the U.S.A with his Graduate short 'Yesterday’s News', a claustrophobic drama about working the Graveyard shift at a local petrol station. He was awarded the ‘Director’s Choice’ Award at Sacramento Film Festival. Tandy also wrote the screenplay for The Suitcase, directed by Natassha Amalia, which won a Platinum Remi for Best Student Short at Houston Worldfest that same year.
In 2015, Tandy began writing his debut feature film screenplay 'Black Dogs'. This screenplay was selected by Open Channel’s Script Development program, Scriptstart for professional development. Tandy also won the audience award and judges award at Open Channel’s Short and Sharp Pitching Competition.
In 2018, Tandy returned to directing short films and music videos. His 2018 short film, 'The Story' starring Aussie Rock Icon, Tim Rogers premiered Opening Night of St.Kilda Film Festival and his follow up film Untitled (Saturn Returns) starring Andrew S. Gilbert premiered at Peninsula Film Festival, where Gilbert won 'Best Actor' for his performance,
In early 2019, Tandy's co-written screenplay 'Junk' was shortlisted for the Australian Writer's Guild Monte Miller Awards and inducted onto the Pathways program. Tandy was also put on Film Victoria's Key Talent Register as a writer.
In 2019, Tandy optioned the biography The Hanged Man: The Life and Death of Ronald Ryan written by Dr,Mike Richards and published through Scribe. Tandy is currently developing the book into a mini-series.
